Before switching: what does FirstPromoter already cover?
The official FirstPromoter pricing and feature grid lists Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Recurly and Braintree billing support. It also lists multi-tier commissions, recurring and lifetime rewards, payment-based rewards, tax-form collection, API/webhooks and payout controls. Before evaluating a replacement, write down which of those capabilities your live program uses. Otherwise a simpler alternative may appear cheaper but quietly remove an essential finance or tracking workflow.
FirstPromoter's monthly Starter plan is $49 for up to $5,000 of affiliate-driven revenue. Business is $99 for up to $15,000, and Enterprise begins at $149 above that level. The Starter tier also limits accounts to 1,000 affiliates; Business and above list unlimited affiliates. Those are different from monthly company revenue and partner commission payouts.
- Billing provider and exact version, particularly Paddle Billing versus Paddle Classic.
- First click, last click, direct URL and coupon-only attribution policies.
- Recurring commissions across upgrades, downgrades, annual renewals and refunds.
- Three-level commission rules, promotional rewards and custom partner terms.
- Partner data, tax forms and payable-balance export needs.
Six FirstPromoter alternatives compared
Each option below addresses a different reason for leaving FirstPromoter. The entry prices are monthly billing prices checked on 16 October 2026 from official vendor pages; annual billing discounts, setup work, add-ons and payout processing can change totals.
| Software | From (monthly billing) | What you gain | What to verify before switching |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rewardful | $49/mo | Stripe-first model; $7,500/mo affiliate-revenue allowance | Paddle Billing unsupported in vendor's Paddle Classic documentation |
| Partnero | $59/mo | No referred-revenue cap; affiliate/referral programs | Native support for your exact billing provider; managed payout fee |
| Tolt | $69/mo | SaaS-focused branded portal; $10k/mo Basic allowance | Manual payouts on Basic; feature/flow fit |
| Affonso | $19/mo ($15/mo annual equivalent) | Paddle Billing, Polar.sh, Creem and affiliate discovery | Launch plan allows only $1k/month partner revenue |
| Tapfiliate | $89/mo | 30+ integrations and flexible campaign tracking | Launch limits: 50 affiliates, 5k clicks, 500 conversions |
| Post Affiliate Pro | $89/mo | Advanced tracking requests and plugin options | 10k monthly tracking requests; integration setup |
1. Rewardful: for a simpler Stripe subscription program
Rewardful is a practical FirstPromoter alternative when all customer billing runs through Stripe and you do not require multi-tier complexity. Its official pricing page lists $49 per month for up to $7,500 in referred revenue, then $99 up to $15,000. This gives more revenue headroom at the same $49 entry price, while preserving recurring commissions, referral links and coupon attribution.
The biggest warning is provider coverage: Rewardful's own documentation explicitly says its Paddle integration is Paddle Classic only. If your current FirstPromoter account is connected to Paddle Billing, Chargebee, Recurly or Braintree, do not switch on the basis of generic claims that both are “SaaS affiliate software.” Map the live integration first. See our Paddle Billing buyer guide.
2. Partnero: uncapped referred revenue for one program
Partnero offers a more predictable subscription cost when your affiliate sales increase: the vendor's pricing table lists $59 monthly on Starter and unlimited referred revenue, affiliates and transactions. It also supports several partnership models, including standard affiliates, referral and newsletter programs. That scope may fit a growth team running more than one acquisition motion.
But flat subscription pricing does not mean flat payout cost. Partnero-managed payouts incur a published 7% processing fee, while using your own PayPal or Wise account avoids an extra Partnero fee but still carries payment-provider charges. Confirm the exact billing connector, number of programs, team seats and financial workflow. Partnero profile.
3. Tolt: startup-oriented affiliate management
Tolt costs $69 monthly on Basic and allows up to $10,000 a month in affiliate-attributed revenue, with unlimited affiliates/referrals and a branded portal. Its pricing page lists manual payouts at that tier. A company moving from FirstPromoter purely because $5,000 of affiliate revenue triggers a $49-plan upgrade may find Tolt's allowance worth evaluating.
However, review FirstPromoter's commission configuration before moving. Tolt's published feature set may not map one-to-one to three-level commissions, per-plan reward overrides or every billing-provider connector you already use. Test link, coupon, renewal and refund events in a sandbox or controlled live environment, and reconcile the payable balance. Tolt profile.
4. Affonso: a route for Polar, Creem or Paddle Billing
Affonso's official integration matrix lists Stripe, Paddle Billing, Polar.sh, Creem and Dodo Payments. It also lists affiliate discovery tools and an in-product marketplace. If your company has moved to a newer merchant-of-record or subscription stack, that matrix is a more relevant reason to evaluate Affonso than its headline price.
The entry Launch tier is $19 monthly, or $15 monthly equivalent annually, and is limited to $1,000 monthly revenue generated by partners. The next level is required before most active SaaS programs are large enough to leave FirstPromoter's $5,000 Starter limit. Managed payouts are not part of Affonso Launch; they appear on its Growth tier. Verify supported tax documentation, commission lifecycle and customer identity before migration.
5. Tapfiliate: campaign tracking beyond one SaaS checkout
Tapfiliate is useful when an affiliate program spans Shopify, WooCommerce, SaaS payment providers or custom conversion tracking. Its pricing and integration schedule advertises 30+ prebuilt integrations, recurring commissions, coupon tracking and API/server-to-server options. Launch costs $89 per month with 50 affiliates, 5,000 clicks/month and 500 conversions/month.
These restrictions need a different forecast from FirstPromoter's revenue model. A content-heavy affiliate program could consume tracked clicks rapidly, even if few conversions produce sales. For a billing provider not connected natively, an API, Zapier or webhook may be necessary to identify renewals and refunds. A feature-list checkbox is not a substitute for testing the actual charge events. Tapfiliate profile.
6. Post Affiliate Pro: for specialized affiliate operations
Post Affiliate Pro publishes an $89 monthly Starter tier with 10,000 monthly tracking requests, unlimited affiliates and many plugins. The official product pricing includes fraud prevention and custom program controls, making the software more relevant to complex campaigns than a startup that only needs a simple Stripe referral link.
Budget for implementation as well as the license. A plugin inventory alone does not prove native subscription-renewal commission attribution for Chargebee, Recurly or Braintree. Request documented connectors, test event IDs and understand whether one invoice event could create multiple commissions. Confirm that the tracking-request limit suits your traffic. Post Affiliate Pro profile.
Billing support is the most important replacement filter
A billing connection must do more than detect the first paid checkout. It should consistently associate an affiliate with a customer and update eligible commissions on invoice payment, failed collection, renewal, cancellation and refund. The table summarizes documented vendor positions, not an independent certification of any merchant account.
| Billing stack | FirstPromoter documentation | Replacement caution |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Listed as a native billing provider | Rewardful, Partnero and others list Stripe; test customer mapping and renewal invoices |
| Paddle Billing | Paddle listed; version-specific setup should be validated | Rewardful explicitly documents Paddle Classic only; Affonso lists Paddle Billing |
| Chargebee, Recurly, Braintree | All three listed in FirstPromoter's pricing matrix | Do not assume every replacement supports all three natively |
| Polar.sh, Creem, Dodo Payments | Not named as native providers in the reviewed FirstPromoter pricing grid | Affonso lists these; verify the latest docs and actual event mapping |

A cost example: $5,000 vs $12,000 affiliate-driven revenue
At $5,000 a month in referred revenue, FirstPromoter Starter's stated limit is just sufficient at $49 per month. Rewardful Starter is also $49 with more headroom to $7,500. Partnero Starter is $59 with no referred-revenue cap; Tolt Basic is $69 up to $10,000. Affonso's $19 monthly Launch plan is not directly comparable because its documented allowance is only $1,000. Compare the plan needed for your volume, not the cheapest logo in a table.
At $12,000 a month, FirstPromoter Business and Rewardful Growth both list $99 monthly with allowances up to $15,000. Partnero still lists $59 for one program with no referred-revenue cap, but its optional 7% managed payout fee can materially change the overall bill. A two-year scenario should add forecast commissions and chargebacks, provider fees, program count, migration effort and support needs. No tool is automatically lowest-cost at every scale.
Switching checklist: protect lifetime commissions
Migrating can change who gets credited for customers acquired months or years earlier. Before terminating FirstPromoter, export affiliate identifiers, referral links, tax documents where permissible, customer mappings, campaign rules, unpaid balances and payout history. Ask the replacement vendor whether historical recurring commissions can be imported with the existing customer's relationship to the originating promoter.
- Freeze and export the current commission policy, attribution windows and planned payout dates.
- Confirm each billing-provider integration by exact version rather than a generic vendor name.
- Test an existing referred subscription's next invoice—not only a fresh signup.
- Create one controlled coupon-only sale, a cross-domain checkout and a refunded invoice.
- Reconcile first payment, renewal, refund and reversal ledger entries against billing source IDs.
- Verify that payout history and tax/compliance records are accessible after migration.
- Avoid two live trackers awarding the same subscription charge during rollout.
The recurring commission tracking guide covers lifetime versus time-limited rewards, cancellations and clawbacks.
Frequently asked questions
What is the closest FirstPromoter alternative for a Stripe-only SaaS?
Rewardful is a straightforward shortlist candidate for a Stripe-first subscription program. Its published Starter plan offers higher referred-revenue headroom at the same monthly price, but the decision still depends on how you use commissions and payouts.
Which alternative avoids referral-revenue caps?
Partnero advertises unlimited referred revenue, affiliates and transactions on its plans. That does not remove subscription, seat or payout fees, so calculate your actual workflow.
Does FirstPromoter support Paddle Billing?
Its current published billing-provider list includes Paddle. Confirm the version-specific integration and test webhooks in your account; do not assume that any alternative with “Paddle” in a marketing paragraph supports Paddle Billing.
Can I migrate existing lifetime affiliate commissions?
Possibly, depending on the destination's import capabilities and historical customer/affiliate identifiers. Request written confirmation and test an existing customer's renewal before retiring the old tracking system.
