The short answer
If your SaaS uses Paddle Billing, start by checking the billing version in each affiliate platform's official integration documentation. As of our October 9, 2026 review, FirstPromoter, Partnero and Tolt publish Paddle Billing-specific setup guidance. Rewardful explicitly says it supports Paddle Classic only, not Paddle Billing. These are different systems, and a generic Paddle logo is not enough to demonstrate compatibility.
This matters because the affiliate platform needs to associate a referred customer with actual transactions, renewals and refunds. If it connects to the wrong version of Paddle, the affiliate dashboard may never reconcile with the billing system the SaaS actually runs.
Paddle Billing versus Paddle Classic
Paddle Classic is Paddle's older system; Paddle Billing is the newer platform. Vendors may integrate with one, both or neither. Even where both are supported, the implementation steps can differ because checkout handoff, customer identities and event notifications need to be mapped correctly.
A SaaS considering a new affiliate system should therefore begin with three questions: Which Paddle version powers checkout now? Is a migration planned? Does the vendor document your version and the exact checkout method you use?
Compatibility matrix: what we could verify
| Software | Paddle Billing | Paddle Classic | Starting monthly price | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FirstPromoter | Dedicated Billing setup guide | Product lists Paddle; verify Classic-specific path for your account | $49 | Referral handoff and Paddle webhook configuration required |
| Partnero | Documented | Documented | $59 | Billing checkout needs referral identity; Starter allows one program and one team member |
| Tolt | Dedicated Billing help guide | Dedicated Classic help guide | $69 | Basic has manual partner payouts |
| Rewardful | Not supported according to vendor | Documented | $49 | Do not buy for Billing based on an undifferentiated Paddle label |
| Tapfiliate | Not verified from sources reviewed | Not verified from sources reviewed | $89 | Excluded from confirmed Paddle Billing shortlist; has documented Stripe support |
This table distinguishes documented support from independent integration testing. We have not connected any of these products to a live Paddle merchant account. “Not verified” does not mean “impossible,” and documented support does not mean every custom architecture will work without technical changes.

Which tool belongs on your shortlist?
FirstPromoter: for subscription commission rules
FirstPromoter is a logical candidate when recurring commissions and billing events are central to the program. Its Paddle Billing help document explains setting up webhook notifications for transaction and subscription events, using a secret key and linking a Paddle customer to a FirstPromoter referral. Published pricing begins at $49 per month, with a $5,000 monthly affiliate-attributed revenue threshold on Starter.
Best reason to evaluate: you need Paddle Billing compatibility with documented subscription-oriented commission structures. Watch for: plan thresholds, custom-domain availability and technical referral mapping.

Partnero: for no advertised affiliate-revenue ceiling
Partnero documents both Paddle versions and publishes integration guidance for each. Its Paddle page covers subscriptions, renewal events, coupon tracking and refunds. It also recommends sandbox testing, which is a good practice rather than a reason to assume the system has been independently validated.
The platform advertises unlimited affiliate-attributed revenue on all plans, but its $59-per-month Starter package includes only one program and one team member. This may suit a founder who expects revenue growth before a larger operations team.
Best reason to evaluate: avoiding revenue-based tier upgrades while retaining Paddle Billing support. Watch for: program count, seats and the precise payout arrangement.

Tolt: for a SaaS-centered affiliate workflow
Tolt's official help center lists different instructions for Paddle Billing and Paddle Classic. Its Basic plan currently starts at $69 per month, with a published $10,000 monthly affiliate-related revenue threshold and manual payouts. Growth costs $99 per month and introduces automated payout features with a listed processing fee.
Best reason to evaluate: explicit Paddle version guides and program tooling oriented around SaaS. Watch for: how much affiliate payout work remains manual and the revenue limit applicable to your plan.

Why Rewardful is not a Paddle Billing recommendation
Rewardful is frequently discussed alongside Stripe and Paddle affiliate software. But its own integration page expressly limits Paddle support to Classic. A Paddle Billing merchant should respect that exclusion unless Rewardful publishes new supporting documentation. It may still be appropriate for a Stripe merchant or a business that remains on Paddle Classic.

How to validate the implementation before paying for a year
A billing integration is successful only when referral data and the ledger agree. Use sandbox accounts where supported and document these test cases:
- Referral click to account: the link assigns an identifiable referral to a genuine signup.
- First completed payment: the Paddle transaction maps to the correct referred customer and partner.
- Renewal: a later subscription invoice creates the correct recurring commission, if enabled.
- Plan change: an upgrade or downgrade applies the agreed commission basis.
- Cancellation: future payment events stop or continue according to your policy; cancelled subscriptions should not create fictional new payments.
- Refund or adjustment: commissions are reversed or adjusted under the program's terms, without double-paying.
- Coupon referral: if codes are enabled, attribution is consistent when a customer uses a discount without clicking a link.
- Payout reconciliation: approved commissions can be matched to real payouts and accounting records.
FirstPromoter's guide explicitly describes relevant Paddle Billing notifications, including transaction and subscription events. Partnero's public material describes its referral handoff and sandbox testing. Your team should still test the workflow end to end with its own checkout implementation.
Total cost: look beyond the entry price
Software subscriptions are only one part of an affiliate program's cost. Model the following separately: subscription price, affiliate commission payments, payout processing, added team seats or programs, engineering work, and finance time spent resolving disputes.
A product with uncapped referral revenue can be attractive once affiliates perform well, but it may cost more if multiple users or programs are required. A less expensive starting tier can work during launch but trigger an upgrade as affiliate-attributed revenue increases. There is no universal lowest-cost product without knowing those inputs.
Selection checklist for founders and growth teams
Choose a tool only after the documentation answers your actual questions: exact Paddle version; overlay versus other checkout behavior; the link between referral, app user and Paddle customer; renewals; refunds and partial adjustments; international payout availability; plan-specific caps; and data export if you later switch providers.
Can I run a Paddle Billing affiliate program without writing code?
Possibly with some setups, but do not assume no-code based on a vendor's general integration claim. FirstPromoter documents a referral identity handoff and webhook setup; Partnero indicates its Billing flow often needs a brief development task to pass the referral reference. The answer depends on how your product launches checkout and stores user identities.
Does “Paddle supported” mean subscription commissions are automatic?
No. Billing connectivity and commission logic are separate parts of the solution. You must configure the eligibility rules and verify renewals, cancellations and refunds. A correct first-sale commission is only the first test.
Is Rewardful a Paddle Billing option?
Not under its currently published compatibility statement. It documents Paddle Classic only. Recheck vendor support if its integration policy changes.
Our recommendation by scenario
For a lean Paddle Billing startup, start technical evaluation with FirstPromoter, Partnero and Tolt. If revenue-triggered software upgrades are a concern, inspect Partnero's plan model. If detailed recurring-commission rules are the priority, evaluate FirstPromoter's published configuration options. If you want a SaaS-oriented portal and are comfortable assessing payout-tier economics, include Tolt. Do not force a universal winner without a test of your specific billing flow.
Next step: write down your Paddle version, checkout method, commission model, expected monthly affiliate revenue and partner payout countries before opening trials.
